BBA program
The 4-years BBA program serves the need of those who are looking for a career in management profession or towards higher education in business administration. Being a program with challenging curricula and contents, it is appropriate for those who have excellent academic record and high potential for success.
The BBA degree promises the graduates higher level employability at the entry level of management profession by helping them excel in professional and personal development. The program offers a rich blend of general education; general management skills like communication, decision-making, leadership, teamwork and quantitative methods. Learning Outcomes

BBA graduates are expected to communicate effectively and professionally and to demonstrate the ability to create written and oral statements for diverse audience across the world. Demonstrate the ability to identify and evaluate relevant information for decision making and make use of thinking skills to assess the information and solve problems in uncertain environments. Understand the importance of team work and group dynamics in achieving organizational goals and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams. Accounting & Finance
Accounting & Finance are the most significant and critical areas in the system of free enterprise. Good financial management is, therefore, vitally important to the economic health of business organizations. However, the constant shifts in economic conditions, intense competition for financial resources and questionable business practices have made financial management a complex and challenging undertaking. The BS Accounting & Finance program is designed to prepare students to meet the challenges posed by this complex but exciting area that has assumed much greater importance in the wake of the recent financial crisis in the world. This crisis has taught us that prudent financial management could mean the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful business enterprise. BS Accounting & Finance is tailored to first impart a broad-based education in the fundamentals of business and management and then develop the quantitative and analytical skills necessary to become prudent, astute and ethical financial managers in Fast university.

BS (Civil Engineering)
The Civil Engineering degree is based on the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan - HEC approved curriculum. In the first year, the students learn the fundamentals of Civil Engineering supported by essential mathematics and physics courses. These courses are followed by breadth courses which introduce students to different aspects of Civil Engineering. In the senior year students choose a specialization stream and study advanced courses.
In the highly competitive job market a graduate engineer is not only required to be knowledgeable in technical areas but is also expected to have excellent communication skills and an appreciation of cost effective engineering solutions. Students are offered courses in communication skills to prepare them for challenging environments. Courses like Professional Ethics contribute towards enhancing soft skills that help prepare a well-rounded personality.

The mission of School of Electrical Engineering is to provide graduates with a strong and stable foundation in the traditional and contemporary areas of electrical engineering. The graduates of this program are able to conceive, formulate and effectively communicate solutions to technological problems in society. They are a responsible and productive member of the society upholding high moral standards having an aptitude and attitude towards the betterment of the society through their knowledge and skills. The undergraduate programs prepare the graduates for corporate and governmental entry level jobs and/or to pursue further education at the graduate level worldwide.

Program Objectives

The FAST MBA is a 2-year degree program which comprises of 60 credit hours for those with 16 years of education (Such as BBA, BS (Accounting & Finance), MA (Economics), Engineers, Scientist, Doctors, Social scientists, Lawyers and professional graduates from Liberal Arts disciplines etc.). It delivers an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of management practices, and a deeper appreciation of the implications of a rapidly globalizing work environment on businesses. It is designed with the flexibility to cater for the needs of those who have their undergraduate degree in business related subjects, as well as for those who are coming from other disciplines and are making a conversion to the business and management discipline by doing an MBA.
There are three distinguishing features of the FAST MBA. First, in line with the vision and mission of the business school, the MBA is designed to keep a balance between local, regional and global knowledge, through integration of local and international teaching material, and experiential learning in the local industry and organisations. Second, in line with the culture and the traditions of FAST, the FAST MBA focuses on technology integration in its courses. Third, the enhanced MBA is designed to integrate cases in many of its level five and six courses, thus creating a balance between theoretical knowledge and its application on the one hand, and enhancing the technical as well as the analytical skills of the students on the other hand.

Award of Degree

For the award of MBA degree, a student must have:
  • Passed courses totalling at least 60 credit hours (through exemptions and/or by taking up a course), including all those courses which have been specified as core courses.
  • Obtained a CGPA of at least 2.5

Eligibility:

A degree earned from a recognized university after 16 years of education with at least 60% marks or a CGPA of at least 2.0 (on a scale of 4.0).

Selection Criteria:

  • Past Academic Record (Masters and/ or Bachelor’s Degree): 40%
  • Performance in NU Subject Admission Test: 60%

Specialization in MBA:

The FAST MBA degree does not state any specialization. However, elective courses are offered in five specializations in various campuses of FAST School of Management. The five specialization areas are:
  • Finance
  • HRM
  • Marketing
  • Data Analytics
  • Textile Management
  • Exemption of Courses

    Graduates with business degrees, equivalent to 16 years of education, such as Bachelors of Business Administration, BS Accounting and Finance, Masters in Commerce etc. may get up to 30 credit hours of exemptions, as permitted by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. The courses which may be exempted have an asterisk (*) next to them and are presented in bold italic in the scheme of study.

Duration:

The FAST University MBA is a 2-year degree program which comprises of 60 credit hours for those with 16 years of education. The minimum duration for completing the FAST MBA degree is 1 ½ years, only applicable for those who have a first degree in business or related disciplines, and secure an exemption of 30 credit hours.


Guidelines for FAST MBA

  • The FAST MBA is a 2 years’ degree which comprises of 60 credit hours for those with 16 years of education.
  • The minimum duration for completing the FAST MBA degree is 1½ years, which is only applicable for those who have a first degree in business or related areas, and who have been able to secure an exemption of 30 credit hours.
  • The maximum duration for completing the FAST MBA degree is 4 years.
  • A student may register for a minimum of 6 and a max. of 15 credit hours in a semester; the fee is charged per credit hour. However, a student must keep the maximum duration of the degree program in perspective when registering for courses in each semester.
  • The students may freely choose any of the core courses in a semester, provided they have completed the pre-requisites of those courses. The students are advised to choose lower level courses, if offered in a semester, before choosing a high level course.
  • A student cannot take an elective course before completing all level 4 courses. The students must also complete all core courses of their area of specialization before choosing any elective in that area.
  • The university will not offer all the courses in every semester; the students are responsible to manage their selection of courses, so that they can complete their degree in time.
  • A student may complete the degree by completing a 3 credit or a 6 credit hours’ project or dissertation. In case of a 6 credit hours the project or dissertation will replace an elective.
  • A student may register in MBA Project I/Dissertation I only after completing all level 4, and after taking the Research Methods course. For a student to register in MBA Project/Dissertation I/II, his/her CGPA should be greater than 2.5.
The Masters in Accounting & Finance is launched at FSM Lahore from Fall 2017 semester. The MS A&F program is an extension of BS A&F program that FSM successfully established in 2010. The program offers a rigorous treatment of key areas in accounting and finance. Synthesis of accounting and finance is in high demand among the employers who wish to capitalize on the strength of individuals with a blend of A&F knowledge and expertise in one of these areas. The program is structured so that students can specialize through the appropriate choice of courses offered in both finance and accounting streams.
Award of Degree
For the award of MS Accounting and Finance degree, a student must have:
  • Passed courses totalling at least 30 credit hours, including all those courses which have been specified as Core courses
  • Obtained a CGPA of at least 2.5

Eligibility:

  • A degree in accounting and finance equivalent to 16 years of education with at least 60% marks or CGPA of 2.0 (on a scale of 4.0)
  • BS A&F graduates, BBA graduates with majors in Finance, BCom (Honors) MCom (16 years) and members of ACCA, ICMA & ICAP are eligible to apply.

Selection Criteria:

  • Admission Test Score (same as that of MBA) 50%
  • Interview AND Group Exercise 50%
MS degree (Computer and Networking Security)
This program prepares students to meet challenges posed by a highly inter-connected world. Mobile computing, Sensor networks and other emerging technologies require a thorough understanding of related technologies. This program provides understanding and exposure to the latest trends and technologies in this field.
Typical course load in a semester is four courses. However, NUCES staff cannot register for more than two courses in a semester. In the second semester, a student has the option to pursue MS by undertaking either a 6 credit hour MS Thesis or Project, spread over two regular semesters.
Award of Degree
For the award of MS degree, a student must have:
  • Passed courses totalling at least 31 credit hours, including all those courses which have been specified as Core courses
  • Obtained a CGPA of at least 2.5

Eligibility:

  • Degree in relevant subject of Science or Engineering, earned from a recognized university after 16 years of education AND
  • At least 60% marks or CGPA of at least 2.0(on a scale of 4.0).

Selection Criteria:

  • Past Academic Record (Bachelor): 40%
  • Performance in NU MS Admission Test: 60%
